I think it’s Xmas eve when we put all the presents out, ahem, I mean when Santa comes. We always put snowy foot prints around the floor, wish it snowed outside then it might make more sense haha. I’m treasuring this Xmas, I think it will be the last believing in Santa Xmas 🙁

Our family’s favourite Christmas tradition is a fairly new one – Christmas Eve Hamper – containing new PJs, Christmas dvd to watch, hot chocolate, popcorn and Christmas goodies, and some Christmas crafting, i.e. colouring, tree decoration, garland making.

Ever since my Dad died in 2004, we have made it tradition to have snowman soup on Christmas Eve Night. When my Dad was away in Norway with the Marines he used to write letters to my Mum and draw a little snowman on them.. this stuck until the day he died, every card he wrote had the snowman in …. so a fitting tradition for the children to remember Dad/Grandad by was when he sent them brand new Snowman mugs, filled with the ingredients to make snowman soup, down from heaven ready for Christmas Eve… xx

I love decorating the tree with my husband and our two girls on the first weekend of December. We have to have Christmas songs playing and I have a sherry and mince pie to get into the Christmas spirit!

On Christmas Eve, I meet my friend for a coffee & exchange of cards & gifts. Not only is it a fun get together, but it singles the start of Christmas proper☕️

Taking my son to buy a new tree decoration every year, when it’s time for him to leave home he’ll have a box of decorations and all the memories they hold.

My favourite tradition is decorating the tree while listening to an old CD of Xmas songs (Dr Demento’s greatest Christmas Novelty songs) and drinking mulled wine. The CD has loads of old humorous Christmas songs such as All I want for Christmas is my 2 front teeth, Grandma got run over by a reindeer and my personal favourite, Alan Sherman’s version of the !2 days of Christmas, where he gets aseries of dreadful gifts. Cracks me up every time, even though I’ve heard it dozens of times, and hets me in a festive mood (or maybe that’s the mulled wine!).
